Description

In this video, I’ll walk you through how to use the new proofreading and rewriting tools powered by Apple Intelligence on your iPad. You’ll learn how to quickly fix spelling and grammar mistakes, and even rewrite paragraphs for a more polished and professional look. I’ll show you how flexible these tools are, letting you choose which suggestions to accept while keeping your own voice in your writing.

Transcript

With Apple Intelligence, we now have a whole suite of writing tools built right into the apps we use every day on our iPad. For this example, I’m going to deliberately add a couple of spelling and grammar mistakes to this paragraph from my book, just to see how the proof-reading function works.

First, I’ll highlight the paragraph by tapping and dragging across it, then tap on it once more and choose Writing Tools. At the top, I’ve got the option to Proofread or Rewrite the paragraph. Let’s try proof-reading first. You’ll see that Apple Intelligence analyses the text and makes suggestions for spelling and grammar. It looks like it’s caught all the mistakes I intentionally put in, so I can simply tap Replace and the paragraph will be updated with the corrected text.

Now, let’s try the rewriting feature. I’ll highlight the paragraph again, tap on it, go back to Writing Tools, and choose Rewrite. This tool doesn’t change the tone of your text too much, but it does reword it slightly. You can see that my original version is written more in my personal voice, while the rewritten version is a bit more formal and polished.

I can choose to replace the original, copy the new text, or pick out certain parts of the rewrite that I want to keep. And I think that’s where these writing tools really shine – giving you the flexibility to decide where to keep your original voice and where to use AI-assisted writing to make improvements.

Of course, there’s much more that these writing tools can do, and if you’d like to learn more, check out my videos on the channel linked below. This will also be the place to find updates as Apple Intelligence rolls out more features over the coming months. In the meantime, if you’re after hundreds of quick tips to help you make the most of your iPad, you know where to look!

I’ll see you next time.
