Description

In this video, I demonstrate how to use the new summarising and key points features in Apple Intelligence, integrated into iPadOS. I show you how to take a long transcript and create a brief summary, perfect for YouTube video descriptions, and how to extract key points in a bulleted list. These writing tools make it easier to repurpose your text for different needs, and I’ll also discuss other exciting features coming soon to Apple Intelligence.

Transcript

Apple Intelligence brings us a whole new suite of writing tools built right into the apps we use – no need for third-party apps anymore because it’s now integrated directly into the operating system.

For example, here I’ve got a long document, which is a transcript for a video I made a few months ago. If I highlight all the text, I can tap on it and open up the Writing Tools panel. From here, I’ve got various different options to work with. I don’t want to change the whole text, but I do want to get a summary of it that I can use for my YouTube video description.

So, I’m going to tap on Summary here, and you’ll see Apple Intelligence analyse the entire page of text and reduce it down to a few key points in just a few sentences. From here, I could replace the whole transcript if I wanted to, but instead, I’m going to tap Copy and paste the summary at the bottom, underneath my script.

While I’m here, I’ll highlight the text once more, and this time in the Writing Tools panel, I’ll try the Key Points feature. The idea here is to extract the various steps from my video and turn them into a bullet point list with more detail. In fact, that’s exactly what it’s done! There’s a slight glitch where it’s not showing all the bullet points initially, but as soon as I paste them back into my document, all the text it found for me is visible.

These writing tools are really handy for repurposing the text you’ve written in different ways. And of course, this is just the start of what Apple Intelligence can do on your iPad. Over the next few months, it sounds like even more features are coming, including some image generation tools that I’m quite curious about!

If you want to stay updated on what’s new as soon as it’s released, make sure to subscribe to my channel down below. There will be loads of Apple Intelligence QuickTips, and in the meantime, there are already hundreds of videos to help you get the most out of your iPad.

I’ll see you next time!
