Description

The new Photos app in iOS 18 has introduced some fantastic updates that make finding your favourite pictures and videos faster and easier than ever before. In this video, I’ll show you how to use the new filter options to quickly access specific photos, videos, and even edited favourites with just a few taps. These new tools are especially handy if you have a large photo library, allowing you to spend less time scrolling and more time enjoying your memories. Check out these simple tips to make your iPhone more efficient with iOS 18.

Transcript

The new Photos app in iOS 18 is very, very different from what we’ve had before, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. In fact, I find it’s a great way to find the exact pictures I want and to relive old memories. One way I do this is by using a new filter button in the left-hand corner. If I tap onto that icon on the little floating menu, I can then choose “Filter”, and from here, I can choose which pictures or videos I want to find.

So, for example, I could tap “Favourites” and just get my favourite pictures. But I can also stack these filters. I can tap on “Edited” as well, and now all the pictures I’ve edited that I’ve also marked as favourites are the ones I can see in my library here. I can then tap onto any of those pictures to view them as normal. If I know what media I want to find, these filters will help me get to it far quicker than just simply scrolling back and hoping I get there eventually.

I can then toggle that again—so I’ve got my favourites selected, but this time, instead of edited pictures, I want to find all my videos that I’ve favourited. When I do that, I can then find the exact video I want, and just like before, I can tap on it and it will play automatically. This makes managing a large library of content really easy, and I find it’s another way that iOS 18 has made my phone far more useful than it was before.

And if you want to see what else is new in iOS 18—and spoiler alert, there’s loads of new stuff—there are lots of videos on my YouTube channel down below with plenty more quick tips for iPhone. Or you can check out my new eBook, where I’ve written 100 quick tips for iOS 18. These are friendly, easy-to-understand tips that will show you 100 things your iPhone can do now that it just couldn’t do before with iOS 18. I’ll see you next time.
