Description

Want to turn a batch of holiday snaps into a video you can share with family or post as a Reel or TikTok? The new slideshow feature in the Photos app in iOS 27 makes it easy on your iPhone. I’ll show you how to customise the transitions, timing and soundtrack, save it straight to your library as a video, make a landscape version, and what to do if a song won’t let you save.

Transcript

The Photos app in iOS 27 has had loads of really interesting updates, and there’s one that I particularly love that will let you turn a selection of your favourite photographs into a video that you can then share with family and friends. It’s great for making social media content, but also for sharing your holiday memories with people that you love. I’ll show you how it works, and then how you can share it wherever you need to.

And before I do that, if you’re new around here, then hi, my name is Jacob. I’m your friendly Apple expert here on YouTube, helping you make the most of your devices. Tap subscribe and you won’t miss any more QuickTips in the future.

Okay, so in the Photos app, I’m going to go into the Collections tab at the bottom, and then find an album of pictures that I’ve made. Now, you could use your main library and select multiple pictures, but I’m going to find this album here of pictures in California, and I’m going to tap Select in the top corner, and then Select All.

With all of my pictures selected, I’m going to tap on the Options button at the top, and I’m going to choose Start Slideshow. Now, this is going to play on my phone, and it’s going to look quite nice, but it’s not going to let me share it with someone else. Well, we can eventually, but before I do that, let me customise a couple of settings.

So, if I tap onto my slideshow, at the bottom of the screen there’s a Customise button here. Tapping on that lets you change a few things. For example, you can change the transition between your pictures. Is it going to fade? Is it going to rotate and zoom? Is it going to swipe sideways? You can decide.

And you can also use that little slider on that same screen to decide how long each picture is on screen for. You can make your slideshow longer or shorter using this. We can also, on that main Customise screen, choose some music if we’d like, and we can have it looping, which means when it gets to the end of the video, it will seamlessly start again, which is great for Reels and TikTok posts and things like that.

Of course, sometimes you might want to share this in a landscape format rather than a portrait format, and I’ll show you how you can do that in a second. But first, if you want to share what you’ve just made in portrait, you can now tap on the Share button at the top of your screen, and then you can select Save Video. That will save your customised and curated slideshow as a video file straight into the Photos app.

But then, if you want to do it in landscape mode, I was looking for an option on the screen to do this and I just couldn’t find one. And then I realised: take your phone, hold it landscape, and now when you customise your slideshow, it’s automatically in landscape mode. We can then tap the Share button just like before, press Save Video, and now you’ve got a beautiful landscape slideshow of all of our pictures.

I hope you found that QuickTip useful. Do tap subscribe, and I think you’re going to really enjoy this QuickTip next.
