Description
Stop typing the same long phrases over and over on your iPhone. There’s a built-in feature called Text Replacement that lets you type a couple of characters and have your iPhone fill in a whole sentence or paragraph for you. In this guide I’ll show you how to set it up: head to Settings, General, Keyboard, then Text Replacement, tap the plus button, and pair your full phrase with a short trigger of your choice.
Then in any app, type the shortcut, press space, and the whole thing appears instantly. It syncs across all your Apple devices via iCloud, so set it up once and it works everywhere. One of the most underrated features on iOS is Text Replacement, because you can really quickly set up a shortcut to replace any word, or sentence, or paragraph that you type often.
All we’re going to do is jump into the Settings app, tap onto General, and then find Keyboards. From here, you’ll see the Text Replacement option, and there may be one or two there already.
We’re going to add a brand new one, and you’ve got two different options: the text shortcut, and the actual replacement itself. So, I’m going to do a little sentence about where to find my videos on my website. It’s quite a long sentence that I share quite often, but rather than typing this into Messages or emails all the time, I’m going to set it to the shortcut, and I’m going to use “QTinfo”, QuickTip info.
And now, whatever app I’m in on my phone or my iPad, it syncs over iCloud. I can simply type in QTinfo, and as soon as I press that space bar, that little phrase will be replaced by the full sentence I entered in Settings.
