Description
In this video, I demonstrate how to use the new Siri on iOS 18.1 or later to get step-by-step instructions for tasks on your iPhone or iPad. Siri can now access Apple Support guides and offer personalised assistance for various settings, from changing wallpapers to adjusting device settings. While Siri provides direct help for thousands of actions, you may still encounter areas where it offers web search results instead.
Transcript
With the new Siri on iOS 18.1 or later, you can ask it for help doing things on your device, and it will give you instructions from the Apple Support guides. For example, I can ask, “How do I change my lock screen wallpaper?” and I’ll get a response like this, giving me step-by-step instructions on what to do. I can even ask follow-up questions, like “How do I change my desktop wallpaper on the iPad?”, and once again, I receive guidance.
While this feature works for thousands of different tasks, it’s not perfect for everything. If I ask, “How do I change my icons to dark mode?” you can see here it’s providing more traditional web search results rather than direct instructions. But not to fear – your favourite tech YouTuber isn’t out of a job just yet! I can tap here to find out exactly how to do that, using one of Jacob’s QuickTips videos.
Speaking of which, if you want to learn more about what you can do with your iPad, please subscribe to the channel below. I’ll see you next time!
