Description

Tired of all your Apple Music playlists looking exactly the same? In this quick guide I’ll show you how to change the cover art on your iPhone, choosing from ready-made patterns, gradients and shapes based on the colours of your songs, or uploading a photo of your own. Once you save it, your new cover updates everywhere you view that playlist, on your iPhone, iPad and any other devices signed into Apple Music.

I find myself making lots of playlists in Apple Music, and they all look quite similar. If only there was a way to customise the artwork to make them really stand out and to make them easier to find. Well, luckily there is, and I’ll show you just how it works.

And if you’re new around here, then hi, my name is Jacob. I’m your friendly Apple expert here to help you make the most of your iPhone and iPad. Please do press subscribe down below for more QuickTips.

Okay, so in the Music app, I’m going to tap onto Playlists, and I’m going to find a playlist that I’ve made that I want to edit. This one is called Poolside Haze, and it was a ChatGPT-generated one based on a song that I liked, and it created a whole playlist for me to enjoy by the pool.

But I want to change the artwork for this so it stands out. So I’m going to press the Options button at the top, that’s the one with the three dots in, and then we can go onto Edit. This is a place where you can actually rename the playlist as well, if you wanted to. But at the top, you’re going to see a few different options for playlist artwork.

Now, if you go to the left-hand side, you can upload your own image or take a photo of the artwork here. That might be the best thing to do, to give you complete creative control. But if you haven’t got time for that, you can swipe sideways instead, and you’re going to find quite a few different options made for you, based on the kind of colours of the album artwork in that playlist.

Now, I don’t think you can change the colours for these, which is a pity, but you can choose the kind of vibes that fit your playlist by looking for the different patterns, gradients, and shapes. When you find the one you like, you can press Save, and that’s it.

Everywhere you view your playlist on the iPhone and the iPad will now have that brand new artwork you’ve just set.

And if you want some more QuickTips, and if you enjoyed that, hey, I think you’re going to really like this QuickTip next.
