One of the apps that you probably use the most on your iPhone – the Camera app – has had quite a significant redesign in iOS 26. And a lot of the things you’re used to using have moved ever so slightly.

In this short Quick Tip video, I’ll show you what’s changed, where things are, and how it all works.

First up – at the bottom, we now only have the option for Video and Photo. Or at least that’s how it appears at first.

To find the other modes, all you have to do is swipe sideways on Photo or Video. If I pull towards the left and go past Photo, you’ll see Panorama, Portrait Mode, and Spatial Photos there.

Let’s go back to the middle to find Photo again before we look at the Video ones. But first, let me show you how to bring up some of the extra controls.

There are actually several different ways to do this in the Camera app, but the easiest one is to simply tap on the mode you’re currently using. So for me, I’m on Photo – I’ll tap on Photo again, and those controls pop up just like this.

From here, we can do common things like changing the flash, adjusting exposure, changing the style – all the things you’re probably used to – even changing the aspect ratio easily by tapping this button to go from regular 4:3 to 16:9, even to square photos.

Another thing we can do is change the format of our pictures, the number of megapixels, and the file format by tapping up here in the top left. As easy as that, I can choose the exact format and size I want my photos to be.

You can actually do this in other modes as well. So if I go across to Video, I can simply press the same button in the top left-hand corner. Here, I can choose 1080p, 4K, and the number of frames per second as well – meaning I could film 4K at 120fps just by changing the settings here.

In the past, you had to go into the Settings app, find Camera, and change it all from there. This is much better.

I also really like how you can see at a glance what settings you’re using by looking up at the top left-hand corner. And just like before, we can tap on the Video button to get more options, or swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring that same control panel up.

This is where we can enable things like Action Mode, flash, and more in the video settings. If I enable Action Mode, for example, it will then show up as a shortcut in the top right-hand corner for as long as you’re in the Camera, so you can toggle it on and off without going back into that panel again.
