How to Use Duo Preview in the Camera App on iPhone Duo

About This QuickTip
Ever taken a photo of someone only for them to ask to see it and try again? On the iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable iPhone, a feature called Duo Preview shows the live viewfinder on the outer screen, so the people you're photographing can see the shot before you take it. I'll show you how to turn it on in the Camera app, letting your subject adjust their pose and framing in real time.

With the new iPhone Duo, we can use the camera in some interesting new ways, and one of them is to get a preview of what you’re shooting on this side of the screen whilst you’re taking the picture on this side. That means if you’re getting a group of people in a photo, or you’re taking a picture of someone, they can see what you can see, and they can pose and move and frame themselves accordingly. So, I’ll show you how this works, and it’s super simple.
And if you’re new around here, then hi, my name is Jacob, and I’m here on YouTube to make some friendly and fun Apple tutorials to help you make the most of your devices. If you’d like more videos like this, please do press subscribe.
Okay, I’m going to open up the Camera app as normal. And of course, I can just use it exactly as it is. The back screen is turned off, and it’s just a normal camera.
But in the top-left corner, if I tap on this button, which is new for the Duo, you can turn on Duo Preview mode, which will light up the outside screen with the same viewfinder you can see on the inside. At this point, your subject can see what you can see, and they can adapt their pose and frame themselves accordingly.
My pumpkin here isn’t doing a huge amount of either of those things. He’s just looking quite cute and fluffy. But you can see from the video here that he can see, or it can see (it’s not a person), exactly what I can see through my camera. And that means I can get some great photos, and my subjects can be happy with the outcome before they’ve even seen what I’ve taken.
