Description

Ever thought of the perfect message at the wrong time? Your iPhone lets you write a text now and schedule it to send later, just like an email, using the Send Later option in the Messages app. In this guide I’ll show you how to set it up, how to spot a scheduled message, and how to edit, reschedule or send it straight away before it goes, plus the one catch: it only works with iMessage, not standard SMS.

Transcript

Something I often get asked is how you can write an iMessage on your iPhone but then schedule it to send later. Well, it’s really simple. Let me show you how.

And if you don’t know me, hi, I’m Jacob. I’m your friendly teacher helping you get the most out of your iPhone. If you enjoy this video, please do subscribe.

Okay, so in the Messages app, we can write a message and send it straight away, but we can also schedule one to go out later at a date and time of our choosing, just like you can do with emails.

To do this, tap the plus button next to your text field, and you’re going to swipe down a little bit until you see Send Later. From here, you’ll see a dotted blue box on top of your message, and you can tap on that to choose the date and time you want to send your message.

And when you send your scheduled message, you tap Send just like normal, but you’ll see it looks different in your conversation. That’s to indicate to you that the person hasn’t yet received the message, but they will do at the time you specified.

And that’s it, you’ve scheduled a message on your iPhone. If you enjoyed this, check out this QuickTip next.
