Description
Is a noisy group chat buzzing away while you’re trying to work or sleep? In this quick guide I’ll show you how to mute it in seconds with Hide Alerts in the Messages app on your iPhone, without leaving the conversation, so you still get every message but none of the notifications. I’ll also show you how to keep Notify Me for mentions switched on, so you’re still alerted whenever someone tags your name directly.

Do you ever wish there was a way to stop group chat notifications coming in when you’re trying to concentrate or get on with work? Or maybe you’re trying to sleep and your message thread is just popping off. Well, there is a way of doing it, and it’s super simple. Hi, I’m Jacob. Let me show you how you do this.
So, in the Messages app, on that home screen of all the different messages listed, find the group chat that you want to mute and then swipe it sideways. Don’t press delete, that would be bad. Instead, press the little bell icon here, and that’s going to turn off alerts, essentially silencing that chat.
From now on, you can tap on it and see the messages, but you won’t get notifications and alerts when someone adds to the chat.
And if you want to see some more really simple things that make your iPhone better than ever, please do subscribe and then check out this video next.
