Description

In this video I’ll show you how easy it is to accept event invitations using Apple Invites, whether you’re on an iPhone, Android device or a web browser. You’ll learn how to check event details, respond to an invite and even add the event to your calendar in just a few taps.

Transcript

In this video, I’ll show you how easy it is to RSVP using the new Apple Invites app—and as luck would have it, I’ve just had an event invitation come through. What are the chances?

Now, I’m going to be doing this on my iPhone, but before we start, it’s important to note that this will also work on a web browser. This means that anyone can view and RSVP to invitations, even people who aren’t using an iPhone.

Okay, so on my iPhone, tapping onto this link opens up the Invites app, and you can see straight away that my wife has created a birthday party for our elderly cat, Polly. I can see the date and rough location, but that’s all I can see until I open the invitation itself.

Once I’ve done that, though, I can see that she’s hosting the party at a cat café in London—which makes sense, given it’s a birthday party for a cat! She’s also put a note on the invitation telling guests they need to bring plenty of Dreamies, which are Polly’s favourite cat treats.

Looking through all the details here, I think I’d like to RSVP to say that I’m going. I can do that simply by tapping the button at the top of the invite. I can also choose to add a message here, should I wish.

Be warned, though—these messages are visible to everyone who’s been invited to the party, not just the host. This isn’t the place to ask logistical questions—message the host directly for that!

But that’s it—I’m now officially going to the coolest party of the year.

And so I don’t forget this event, I can tap the Add to Calendar button in the top-right corner. As easily as that, Apple Invites will add this event to my calendar, along with details like the location and a direct link to open the invite again, should I need to.

Closing this invitation now, and I’m back on the Home screen of the Invites app, where I can now swipe between this new event and the event I previously created for Games Night.

So, now that we’ve RSVP’d to an event, it’s worth looking at some of the deeper integrations that Apple Invites has with iOS. In the next video in the playlist, we’ll dig into shared playlists and shared photo albums. I’ll see you there in a moment!
