Description

The brand new Siri app in iOS 27 is genuinely nothing like the Siri you remember. Every past conversation sits in a grid of cards you can tap back into weeks later, and because it privately uses personal context from your emails, photos, contacts and calendar, its answers are tailored to your life. I’ll show you how the app works and put it to the test live, finding my train home and somewhere to eat nearby.

iOS 27 brings Siri AI and a brand new Siri app onto your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. I’ll give you a super quick guide to how this works.

And before we do that, if you’re new around here, then hi, my name is Jacob, I’m your friendly Apple expert here on YouTube to help you make the most of your devices.

So, we’ve got the Siri app open on screen here, and the first thing you’ll notice are all of these cards of different conversations I’ve had. We can tap onto Options at the top and display as a list instead, if you’d rather, but I quite like these visual cards. I can then tap onto any of these to reopen old conversations, and that means I can carry on the conversation as if I was just having it, even if it’s a chat I had a couple of weeks ago. We can also search at the bottom to find conversations you’ve had with Siri, or information that you’ve got that you want to go back to. And of course, we can start a new conversation in the bottom right-hand corner here.

Now, the new Siri app is incredibly powerful. Forget everything that you know about Siri up until now. This is much more like using the free version of ChatGPT, or Claude, or Gemini, with the added benefit that it has your personal details. It has your emails, it has your photos, it has your contacts, your calendars, all of that stuff lives on your device, it’s not being shared with the wider world. But because it has that information, the results are really tailored for you.

So, let’s give this a try now. “What time is my train home on Thursday, and where should I get dinner beforehand?” We’ll give it a moment or two for this to work, it does take a little bit of time sometimes. “Your train home on Thursday departs from London Paddington at 18:03. If you are looking to grab dinner…” Just like that, Siri has looked at my emails and my calendar to find out about my train details, and it’s used its wider world knowledge to think about places I might like to eat nearby.

We can ask a follow-up question as well. “I think I fancy Chinese, are there any restaurants in that area?” Again, we’ll give it a second to work. “I found a Chinese restaurant near London…” and it’s found some family Chinese restaurants near the station for Thursday night.

Give Siri AI a try. Forget what you know, ask it questions, ask it things that you think it will never be able to figure out, and start to learn what this new tool can do on your iPhone.
