If you use the Journal app, you’ve probably found it a bit frustrating having everything all in one journal. Perhaps you might want different journals – one for holidays, one for family, one for professional trips.

Well, now in iOS 26, all we need to do is go back to the main Journal screen. From here, we can simply add a new journal. Give it a name – I’ll go for “Professional”. Then choose a colour for that journal – obviously, I’ll pick teal – and finally, select an icon that matches. When you press the tick in the top right-hand corner, you’ve just created a brand new journal.

Straight away, you’ll see I’ve got my original journal, the professional journal, and an “All Entries” filter as well. From now on, when I add a new journal entry, I can choose which journal to put it into.

But you might be thinking: “Jacob, I’ve already written hundreds of things. How can I move them between journals?” Well, it’s really simple. Find a journal post you want to move, and then tap the three dots on that post. From here, you can select which journal – or journals – it’s part of. Yes, it can be in more than one if you’d like.

I’m going to move this trip to my professional journal and take it out of my main journal. And just like that, it’s organised.

When you’re browsing your journal, you can choose to browse your main journal, your professional one, your travel one, your family one – or you can see all the entries in one go.
