Description
This redesign makes it easier to navigate your entire photo library, letting you quickly jump between specific months and years. In this video, I’ll show you how to browse through your photos by date, find old memories in just a few taps, and return to the most recent pictures with ease.
Transcript
Even though the Photos app has had a big redesign this year, there are still some popular features that are there but slightly hidden, and one of those is the Months and Years view. In fact, it’s even better than it was before!
If I swipe down on my photos, I can return to the full-screen photo browsing experience, and at the bottom, I can tap onto Months or Years. Tapping onto the Monthly option here will show me highlights from each day that I’ve taken pictures, along with the date in the corner. Of course, I can tap onto any of these to view the whole album. But if I press onto the Years option as well, I can see a yearly overview of all my pictures.
I’m going to jump back to last year, and here you can see different pictures I took on each day in September. Tapping onto these lets me browse pictures from that day in the context of my whole photo library, and that makes this tool a really quick way of finding particular photos if you know when you took them. For example, you can jump into Years, quickly find 2019, and then find all the pictures from April of that year.
If you then want to return to the bottom of your library for the most recent pictures, simply press the X in the bottom corner.
Now that iOS 18’s been released, there are so many more things that your phone can do that it simply couldn’t do before. I spent my summer playing with iOS 18, and I’ve made a ton of QuickTip videos on my channel down below. But excitingly, I’ve also written my first eBook! I’ve called it 100 QuickTips for iOS 18, and if you follow the link below, I promise you’ll find things that you never knew your phone could do now that you’ve updated to iOS 18. I’ll see you next time!
