Description

Just installed iOS 27 and seeing ‘Optimising Search and Siri’ in Settings? Don’t panic, it’s completely normal: your iPhone is indexing your calendar events, photos, contacts and emails so Siri AI can search through them, and it can take anything from an hour or two to several days. I’ll show you five simple things you can do to speed the process up, so Siri AI is ready to use as quickly as possible.

So, if you’re watching this video, you’ve probably just installed iOS 27, and you’re eager to try out the new Siri AI to see what it’s like on your device. But you found that very annoying message in Settings telling you “We’re optimizing search and Siri.” Well, don’t panic, I can help you out, and I can give you five different tips to try and speed the process up as well, so it gets finished nice and quickly for you.

And before we do that, if you’re new around here, then hi, my name is Jacob, and I’m your friendly Apple expert here on YouTube to help you make the most of your devices.

Okay, so there are five different things that we’re going to do to try and make this process a little bit quicker. It could take a very short amount of time, it could take an hour or two, or it could actually take a couple of days. For me, the first time I did this, it did take three or four days, because what your phone is doing is optimising all of the data on there, so Siri can then use it to search for things in the future, like your calendar events, your photos, your contacts, emails, all of that stuff that stays on device.

So the first thing you can do is plug your phone in to charge. It will use a lot of battery, so having it plugged into the mains power is definitely going to help speed that along.

And the second thing is to connect it to Wi-Fi as well. The more connectivity we have, the quicker this process will work, and it’s going to use Apple’s Private Cloud Compute to speed up some of those tasks.

The third thing we’re going to do is turn off the iPhone screen, so don’t use it, leave it alone, leave it on charge. Leave it plugged in, perhaps overnight, perhaps when you’re watching a movie, whatever it is. That will help it optimise quicker in the background, because the phone is not currently doing tasks that you wanted to do, like checking emails and stuff.

The fourth thing we can do is look at how much storage space you’ve got left on your iPhone. If you haven’t got much storage, it might be a good time to offload a couple of bigger apps, to give your phone a little bit of breathing room as it optimises and creates the database of your content. The more space we have, the easier it is for that to happen on the device.

And the fifth thing to do, not very excitingly, is just to be patient. It is worth it when this works, it’s such a good upgrade for iOS 27.
