Description

In this video, I walk you through how to configure Photographic Styles on your iPhone 16, helping you personalise your photos with the perfect tone and colour balance. By selecting a few of your favourite images, including portraits, you can preview different styles and adjust their intensity to suit your needs. Learn how to make subtle adjustments to your photos’ skin tones and save your ideal style for future shots. This feature gives you more control over how your iPhone processes photos, ensuring your images look more tailored and polished every time.

Transcript

A big new feature for iPhone 16 is called Photographic Styles. Now, if you’re finding it hard to choose a style you really like, there’s a built-in tool to help you decide. Simply open the Settings app and then choose Camera. From here, you’re going to see a new option to configure your Photographic Styles. Tapping on this will invite you to pick four of your favourite photos you’ve taken in the past, which ideally will include some of people so you can see how these settings affect skin tones.

From here, you can then swipe sideways to see the five undertones and compare how these look across the four photos. These are like Photographic Styles but designed more for subtle skin tone changes. You can also adjust the strength of these tones using the slider just underneath, and it’s worth remembering again that each of these will apply intelligently to your photos. It isn’t just an old-fashioned colour filter that applies to everything.

Once you’ve chosen one that you like, you can then adjust it further to change the tone on the vertical axis and the colour on the horizontal axis. When you’re happy, press Save Tone and Colour at the bottom, and from now on this will be your default shooting style when you use your Camera app. Of course, you can come back to this page in Settings at any time to repeat this process and recalibrate your favourite style.

Photographic Styles are one of the reasons I started this YouTube channel – they’re a really cool feature built into your phone that I bet a lot of people don’t even know is there. My channel is all about these iPhone QuickTips, helping you make the most of the device you already own by showing you lots of cool and useful features built into your phone.
