Description

Not sure if your AirPods Pro are fitting properly? There’s a built-in Ear Tip Fit Test on your iPhone that plays a short sound and uses the noise-cancelling microphones to check how well each ear is sealed, so you know instantly if your tips are the right size. I’ll show you where to find it in Settings, including its name, Test Acoustic Seal, on AirPods Pro 3 with iOS 26, and what to do if either side needs adjusting.

Transcript

I don’t know about you, but I wear AirPods Pro all the time, but when they first arrived, I wasn’t sure what size tips to put on. Well, I don’t know if you know or not, but the iPhone’s got a built-in guide that will help you. And it will even tell you if your current AirPods are fitting properly, or if they might need readjusting, which will make them sound better than ever.

So, I’ll show you how this works, and it’s super, super quick. Before we get started, if you’re new around here, then hi, I’m Jacob. I’m your friendly Apple expert here to help you make the most of your iPhone and iPad. So, hit subscribe, and we’ll carry on.

So, all we’re going to do is put our AirPods in, and then open up the Settings app on the iPhone. With the AirPods in, you should have the AirPods settings screen showing up at the top here, and we can tap onto there. Then, we’re going to scroll down a little bit, and you’re looking for Ear Tip Fit Test, which is a bit of a mouthful.

And when you tap on there, it’s going to invite you to put the AirPods in and then press Play. This will then play a sound for your ears, and the noise-cancelling microphones are going to work out how much of that sound is leaking from your ears. Sounds more dramatic than it actually is.

Then, after a couple of seconds, it will tell you if your fit is good, or if you might need to adjust them, perhaps by putting a new tip on them, or by making sure they’re more firmly in your ears and rotating them slightly. Then run the test again, and you should get green on both. That will mean your AirPods are now more accurate and more calibrated to your ears than ever before.

And if you enjoyed this QuickTip, I think you’re going to love this one next.
