nothing to see here!
Description
Ever spotted a plant or object and wished your iPhone could just tell you what it is? The new Siri Mode in the iOS 27 Camera app does exactly that, identifying almost anything you point it at using Apple Intelligence, no tapping required. I’ll show you how to find it and use it with a real example from a tropical garden I visited, including asking follow-up questions in a full Siri chat and seeing real photos of what you’ve found.

One of the things that I really enjoy using with the new Siri AI is the Visual Intelligence mode in the camera, to help me learn more about the things that I’m seeing around me. I’ll show you how it works and give you a really good example of when I used it on a trip recently.
But before I do that, if you’re new around here, then hi, my name is Jacob. I’m your friendly Apple expert here to help you make the most of your iPhone. Tap subscribe if you want more QuickTips in your feed on YouTube.
So, recently I went to visit a tropical garden with my wife, and there were loads of beautiful plants there that I just didn’t recognise. I love gardening, but I’m not great at recognising plants, so I needed to learn a little bit.
Well, using the camera on my phone, I swiped across into Siri Mode. So, not Photo or Video, but the new Siri mode. And then I simply held my phone up to the plants in front of me. Without even tapping my screen, a little message will show up at the bottom, and it will tell you what plant you’re looking at, based on what the camera can see and what Apple Intelligence can work out.
And so, if you want to, you can then tap onto the plant, for example, the Persian lily here, and then you get a ton more information about that plant as well. This will open up a full Siri chat, so you can ask it more questions. You can tap onto it to jump into the Siri app, and it will show you photographs of that plant in real life as well.
But this doesn’t just work for plants, it really is interesting what this does work on, because it’s a lot more than you think it will be.
Open up the camera on your phone, go into Siri Mode, and start exploring the world around you and seeing what you can learn.
But before you do that, before you jump off the video, check this one out next.
