Description

I’ve always loved collecting passport stamps, so it’s a shame so many countries have quietly stopped stamping the real thing. Stampie brings that feeling back with a beautiful digital passport on your iPhone, letting you collect stamps for countries, cities, US states, national parks and more. I’ll show you how to browse and add stamps, attach photos, dates and little diary entries, and share your digital passport on social media.

Transcript

So, one thing that I love to do is to collect things, pretty much anything I can. And I used to love collecting stamps in my passport, until they got rid of them. It’s all digital now, and that’s rubbish.

Well, the other day I found an app called Stampie, which basically replaces your passport with a digital version. But better than that, you can add stamps for cities, states, national parks, as well as the countries that you visit. Let me show you how it works. And this is a free app on the App Store, but you can pay to unlock more categories of stamps if you want to.

Before we dig in, if you’re new here, then hi, my name is Jacob. I’m your friendly Apple teacher, helping you get the most out of your iPhone and your iPad every single day with short and friendly tutorials. Subscribe so you don’t miss any in the future.

The Stampie app itself is really, really simple to use, but I love the graphics and the style you’ve got here. I can browse all of the different stamps I’ve already collected by tapping through the different tabs here. For example, I can go onto Cities, and I can see places around the world that I’ve visited, as well as the countries they live in. And what’s really nice is if you tap onto one of them, like Copenhagen, you can see information about your trip. You can add photos, you can put the dates you were there, even a little diary entry, if you want to, to remind you what you were doing in that location.

And of course, just like sharing a photo of your passport, you can share your digital passport as well on social media. And there are tons of different ways we can do that, from changing the layout and the size, to making it portrait and landscape, all of that good stuff.

But you might be thinking, well, how do you get the stamps in the app? Do you give it to the customs agent when you get to the airport? And no, that would be very weird. We can actually do them really, really simply, and we can choose what categories of stamps to add as well.

If I tap onto the Stamp Collection tab at the bottom here, you can see they’re grouped by category, from countries and cities, to German states, US national parks, wonders of the world, marathons, loads of different things that you might want to collect stamps from.

I’m going to go onto US States, because I need to add a stamp for my visit to California. And I can do that by simply tapping onto the stamp that I want to add. From here, I can choose some details, like adding the date that I visited, and I can put on there the reason for my visit, WWDC 2025. And I also like adding photos, because then in the future you can tap onto it and you can see all the things that you did. I’m going to select three or four photos from my album and tap on those and add it to the entry.

At this point, I can tap onto Save, and that stamp is now in my digital passport. If I go back to the passport page here, you’ll see it’s put it in chronological order for me, and it sits right there next to my visit to San Francisco.

This is such a cool little way of saving memories and saving travels. And like I said, with passports becoming digital and no more real stamps in loads of airports, I think this is a great alternative.

So check out Stampie, and then check out this QuickTip next.
