Description

Discover the new “Snap to Grid” feature in Freeform with iOS 18, making it easier than ever to align and organise your content. This video demonstrates how to quickly and neatly arrange objects on your Freeform boards, ensuring a tidy workspace.

Transcript

A really nice update to Freeform in iOS 18 makes organising your content and aligning things far easier than before. In the past, if I had objects like these iPhone icons, lining them up perfectly would be quite tricky—there was lots of trial and error and it could go anywhere. But there’s now a new option for snapping objects to the grid, which is that dotted background on your board.

To enable this feature, I’m going to tap on “Board Options” at the top—that’s the button I’m on now—and then go down to “Alignment Settings”. Here I can turn on the old guides like “Align to Centre” or “Align to Edge”, but at the top there, I’ve got “Snap to Grid”. When I choose that option, anytime I move an object, it will now snap onto the background grid no matter what I’m doing.

This means I can very quickly arrange all of these icons perfectly aligned to each other using just that snap to grid feature. This really is great for organising your thoughts and ideas on those boards and making sure they’re manageable, neat, and organised. And there are other ways of organising your thoughts on Freeform this year with iOS 18, including the amazing new scenes feature.

If you want to learn more about that and other things that have changed in Freeform, like the improved connectors, please do check out my videos down below on my channel and make sure you subscribe. Or, if you want to, I’ve written an eBook this year with 100 different Quick Tips for iOS 18, including tips about Freeform and 100 other things you can do on your iPhone now you’ve updated to iOS 18. Whatever you decide to do, I look forward to seeing you again soon.
