Description
In this video, I demonstrate how to use the new Passwords app on iOS 18 to create shared password groups. Whether you’re sharing login details with family, friends, or colleagues, this feature makes it easy to organise and securely share your passwords. Learn how to set up groups, invite others, and seamlessly manage shared passwords – and if any password changes, it’ll update automatically for everyone. This new feature is a great way to stay organised and make password sharing simple and secure on your iPhone.

The new Passwords app on iOS 18 is a really handy way to store and access your passwords. But you can actually go beyond that by creating groups of passwords that you share – maybe with your partner for utility bills, your colleagues for work logins, or your family to share video streaming platforms. When you share these passwords, they’ll appear in the other person’s Keychain and Autofill section, just like they do on your phone.
To get started, all we need to do is tap New Group and then give it a name. I’m going to call mine Saffy and Jacob, and these are passwords that I’ll share with my wife. Then, we can invite anyone you want to include in the group. I’ll just search for Sapphy and add her in there. The final step – and it really is this simple – is to select the passwords you want to share. You can tap on them one at a time here, or you can go into them later and change it in the settings screen.
When you’ve finished selecting your passwords, tap Move, and it will move them from your singular password vault into a shared group vault. You even have the option to message the person to let them know there are new passwords available on their device. These will then show up in the Passwords app on Saffy’s phone, meaning we both have access to them. If the password changes, it updates in both places, and there’s no limit to how many groups you can make, which is a really handy feature to have.
And if you’re someone curious to find out what else your iPhone is capable of, I’d highly recommend checking out the book linked below. It’s called 100 QuickTips for iOS 18, and I guarantee you’ll learn loads of things you never knew your iPhone could do.
