Description

Learn how to use the Find My app’s new feature to share AirTag locations via a web link, introduced in iOS 18.2! Perfect for tracking lost luggage or other items, this feature allows you to generate a secure link to share with airports, airlines, or anyone helping you recover your belongings.

Transcript

There’s a new feature in the Find My app that could prove absolutely invaluable if you ever lose a suitcase or some luggage at the airport – as long as you’ve got an AirTag stowed away inside.

In the Find My app, you can see here that I’ve lost my keys. It can’t connect to them on the map or find them anywhere. Hopefully, as soon as someone with an iPhone walks past, the location will update, and I’ll be able to see where they are. Now, imagine this is actually a suitcase. You can see it in the airport, but you can’t physically get to it because it’s behind the baggage carousel. Or perhaps you have to leave quickly to catch a connecting flight and don’t want to lose your suitcase forever.

Well, if you scroll down the page in Find My, you’ll see there’s a brand-new option to share the item’s location via a website link. This is new in iOS 18.2, and it allows you to generate a link that you can copy and email to the airport or share with someone representing the airline. These links expire after a few days, so you don’t need to worry about someone finding your item and keeping track of you forever. Plus, you can cancel the link at any time.

Setting this up is incredibly easy, which is helpful because I can imagine you’d be quite stressed if you ever needed to use it. As soon as you press the Continue button, it will take a moment to generate a URL link for you. From there, you can simply tap to copy the link or use the share button at the bottom to email it or share it directly.

This link requires the recipient to log in using an Apple ID or an Apple Partner ID to view the item’s location. They’ll have access to the location for up to 7 days. It’s worth noting that sharing this link also shares your Apple ID details, such as your email address or phone number, so the company can contact you to help reunite you with your lost item.

This is a simple but incredibly helpful new feature in iOS 18.2 that could save you a lot of stress. If you’d like to see what else your iPhone can do, check out my channel down below.
