With iOS 26, there’s now a quick shortcut to add reminders no matter what you’re doing on your phone.

Here on the Lock Screen, I’m going to long press and tap Customise. And I’m going to get rid of the Camera toggle in the bottom right-hand corner. As of last year, you can now change these two toggles – but up until then, you never could. So it’s quite cool that we can do this.

Then I can simply tap on there and add any control that I can use in Control Centre. I’m going to search for Reminders. This Reminders toggle is brand new in iOS 26.

When you add it to your Lock Screen and finish editing, you’ve now got a brand new button ready to use.

I’m simply going to long press this button, and you’ll see at the top of the screen a little Reminders interface pop up. From here, I can change the list – so I’ll go onto Shopping List. I can type in what I want (popcorn) and then choose to be reminded at a certain date or time, a certain location, or flag it as important.

These are all things you can do in the Reminders app – but here, we haven’t gone anywhere near the app itself. We’re doing it straight from the Lock Screen.

I can then press Add. And just like that, it’s in Reminders. I can do it again for milk. And now, as quickly as that, I’ve added two things to my shopping list without even opening my phone.

If you’ve got an iPhone 15 or later, you can also configure the Action Button to run this command. Just open Settings, tap onto Action Button, then swipe through until you find Controls. You can then search for Reminders and select it – and you can also add this to your Control Centre if you like.

Now, I can just press my Action Button, and just like on the Lock Screen, the Reminders interface will pop up.
