With iOS 16 you can now enable a setting called ‘Haptic Feedback’ for your Keyboard. But what does that actually mean? Well, when you type you’ll now feel a gentle vibration effect which makes it feel a lot more like you’re typing on an actual Keyboard – even though it’s just a touchscreen! It’s subtle but in my experience it really makes typing on the iPhone a much more enjoyable experience. Give it a try today!

It’s been a long time coming, but the iPhone now has a Haptic Keyboard that means you can get a small vibration when you type – to make your keyboard feel more like a real physical keyboard.

Here’s how to turn it on.

This is a really simple tip!

You’re going to jump straight into Settings and from there you’re going to scroll down and select Sound and Haptics.

Towards the bottom of this screen you’ll find the option for Keyboard Feedback.

Now, when you tap on here you have two toggles: the one that’s always been there is Sound and that means you can have a quiet keyboard or you can have those ‘clicky’ typing noises.

But the Haptic option will enable the vibration effect, which makes it feel like you’re pressing a real physical key on your keyboard.

I’m going to turn that on and then jump straight into Notes.

Of course, it’s very difficult to show you a vibrating keyboard through the medium of video!

So trust me when I say this feels a lot more natural when I’m typing.

Now, unlike the sound which only happens when the phone is not in Silent Mode, the haptic feedback will work all the time because it makes no noise.

In fact it just feels like it’s buzzing in your hand ever-so-gently.

It’s kind of hard to describe!

Turn it on and you’ll see what I mean.
