Here’s a nifty little feature in iOS 15 and watchOS 8 that you might not know about… Find My can now send you an alert on your Apple Watch if you leave one of your devices behind. This could be your iPhone, iPad or even AirPods! It’s quick to set up and could save you a lot of bother in the future!

Find My is about to get a whole lot more useful in iOS 15m because you’ll never leave your device behind accidentally again!

Since the AirTags came out, Find My has notified you if you’ve left them behind.

So if you leave home without your keys you’d get a message on your phone.

But up until now you’ve never been able to do that for your actual devices themselves.

But with iOS 15 and watchOS 8 you can now get a notification on your Apple Watch if you leave your iPhone or your iPad behind when you go out!

If I tap onto the devices tab in Find My and then select the device that I want to be notified about when I leave it behind – in this case my iPhone – I’ve now got a new option on the Settings screen.

As I scroll down I can look for Notifications and I can turn on Notify Me When Left Behind.

This does require watchOS 8 on your Apple Watch and of course iOS 15 as well.

When you turn this setting on you’ll get an alert on your wrist the minute you leave your device behind – however you can customise this a little bit as well and you can choose locations where you won’t be notified.

So for me at work I leave my phone in one place as I walk around the school and I don’t want my wrist to be buzzing every time I walk out of the room, so I can add work as an exception.

Then the next time I go out and I accidentally leave my phone behind this is what you’ll see on your Watch.

It’s a really simple feature but a really useful one.
