Here’s an update in iOS 17 that’s almost impossible for me to demo on YouTube without getting a copyright strike, so we’re going to pretend to play some music and in your head just promise me you’re going to pretend to bop a long – okay? Perfect!

So you can now have a crossfade between songs in the Apple Music app, and what that means very simply is that when your songs are moving on to the next track in that playlist it will automatically fade between the two rather waiting for one to finish and starting the next.

It’s what DJs do when their mixing sound to make it sound really smooth and really seamless.

To turn this on we’re going to jump into the Settings app and then we’re going to scroll down a little bit until we get to Music.

From here as you go down the page there’s a new option for Crossfade and when you turn this on you can change the length of that fade as well – how much of the songs you want to mix.

It’s worth noting this won’t work over AirPlay, only when you play on your phone or through headphones.

Then, when you go back to your music and you reach the end of a song (remember we’re pretending aren’t we!) it will then fade automatically into the next one in a really seamless way.

Didn’t that sound great?! Trust me, it did.

And this is another little thing in iOS 17 to make your phone better than ever.
