nothing to see here!
Description
Fed up with webpages covered in adverts and autoplaying videos? Safari on iPhone has a hidden feature called Reader Mode that turns cluttered websites into a clean, distraction-free reading experience. In this QuickTip I’ll show you how to turn it on and customise the way articles look, so you can finally focus on what you actually came to read.
Transcript
Safari has a feature that makes any webpage into a great reading experience, even when it’s so covered in ads that you can barely see the text. But because it’s hidden, I find that most people don’t even realise it exists.
So, you all know the situation. You click on a link and immediately regret it because of all the adverts and videos that start playing on the website, but the information you want is really important. So, you end up scrolling all over the place trying to read it.
Well, the next time that happens, tap onto the Safari options button in the address bar here and then select Reader Mode.
Immediately, your article gets transformed into a simplified, text-focused experience, much like you get when you read an ebook.
That’s not all, though. If you tap on the options icon again, you can then customise how the view looks by changing the background colour, the font, and the text size.
Now you can enjoy your webpage without all the other nonsense.
